Spalding’s Sargent denied deserved victory on weekend of top action at Flux Arena

Two South Holland racers were among the supporting cast as the Adrian Flux Arena held its biggest race of the year on Saturday.

The BriSCA F1 Stock Car Championship’s World Final was the main event at the King’s Lynn venue, with fans from around the world descending on the arena for two days of hard, fast and furious racing.

In the main race, hotly tipped pre-race favourite Tom Harris (Manchester) took the crown after a dominant performance.

Although no local racers were on the grid for the big race, Spalding-based Jim Bamford was in the thick of the action in the rest of the day’s racing.

He found the going tough and was caught up in other incidents, meaning that his best result all night was a tenth place in a heat race.

Mark Sargent, also from Spalding, fared slightly better with a third place in his heat race.

Then, in the feature final of the night, he was leading the race by quite some margin – only for to be taken out by backmarker and run up the wall with just a handful of laps left to run.

It was a tough moment for Sargent after racing so well throughout.

Next up at the Adrian Flux Arena is this Sunday for an afternoon of full-on banger and stock car action.

The 2Litre Bangers, 1500cc Bangers, Junior Banger English Championship and 1300 Stock Cars will all be out on track, with racing starting at 1pm.

There will be entertainment for all of the family, with all details available at www.stockcar-racing.co.uk – fans are advised to check before travelling for race day updates.

Family tickets available and kids aged up to 11 years old go free.
