Spalding’s Water Taxi has been unable to run after a build up of weed blocked the waterway.
The weed at Little London Bridge was bank-to-bank and meant the popular service was halted on Friday.
The situation failed to improve and on Saturday the operators posted a message on Facebook.
“The weed build up at Little London bridge has severely increased. I am working closely with the Environment Agency at rectifying the problem,” said Anthony Grunwell of Spalding Water Taxi and Boat Hire.
Sunday was the same story with the weed backing-up to Locks Mill House. There was no improvement by Tuesday and the day’s timetable was also cancelled.
The boat runs on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until the season closes at the end of this month.
“I have been heartened by the messages of support,” said Mr Grunwell.
The taxi has been running since 2007 as a not-for-profit organisation to link the Springfields outlet to the town centre.
The route from the rear of the South Holland Centre includes a stretch of the River Welland before the taxi heads into the Coronation Chanel to dock at Springfields.
Both the town’s yacht club and the water taxi have expressed concern to the Environment Agency which is responsible for the river.
The Voice contacted the agency for a comment but had not received a response at the time of going to press.
