Pensioner (81) in court on rape and child sex offence charges

A man of 81 from South Holland has appeared in court on charges of attempted rape and 13 child sex offences stretching back almost 40 years.

Charles William Alfred Scott, of Main Road, Quadring, appeared before King’s Lynn Magistrates’ court on Thursday.

He is charged with attempted rape between March 7, 1992 and October 6, 1994.

This indictable only offence was sent to Norwich Crown Court on October 17.

Scott is also accused of seven counts of gross indecency with a girl aged under 14 near King’s Lynn and one count of inciting the same girl to commit an act of gross indecency in Blackpool.

He is further charged with two counts of gross indecency with a separate girl under 14 and two counts of indecent assault on that girl. These are said to have taken place near King’s Lynn and in London on various October dates between 1981 and 1995.

All of the gross indecency and indecent assault charges are linked to the indictable offence and will also be heard at Norwich Crown Court. Scott was released on unconditional bail until that next appearance.
