Saturday football: Brownhill toasts Tulips treble, Tigers smash Sleaford for seven, Pinchbeck beaten

Both Spalding United and Holbeach United enjoyed impressive away wins on Saturday, while Pinchbeck United were soundly beaten at home.

A Joel Brownhill hat-trick ensured that Spalding were 3-1 winners at Stocksbridge Park Steels in the Bet Victor NPL East Division, making it two games unbeaten in the process.

The Tulips are now eight in the table ahead of Tuesday night’s home date with Cleethorpes Town (7.45pm).

Holbeach, meanwhile, smashed Sleaford Town 7-0 in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division at Eslaforde Park thanks to a sensational second half.

The hosts had to endure 74 minutes with ten men after Ewan Armstrong was sent off for an elbow on Luke Wilson.

After making it to half-time at 0-0, goals from Josh Ford (2), Jonny Lockie (2), Liam Adams, Wilson and an own goal made it a demolition derby for Danny Hussey’s Tigers.

As for Pinchbeck, they slipped up 3-0 at home against a Wellingborough Town side that were good value for the points at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Ryan Lovell nodded the Doughboys into a half-time lead, before Lloyd Burton’s long-ranger just after the break broke the Knights’ resolve.

Brandon Williams’ deflected strike rounded off the win, but Pinchbeck were indebted to a number of smart saves from Ricky Lovelace.

To compound the misery for Ian Dunn’s side, Tony Edwards saw a late penalty saved.

Down in the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox dropped their first Premier Division points of the season as they were held 2-2 at basement side Leverington Sports.

Also in the top flight, Tydd went down 5-0 at Uppingham Town and Long Sutton beat Stamford Lions 2-1 in the PFA Senior Cup.

More to follow on all games at www.spaldingvoice.co.uk and in Thursday’s paper.
