Woman who shoved plate into diner’s face gets electronic tag and curfew

A woman who shoved a plate into a fellow customer’s face at The Ivy Wall pub in Spalding is to receive help with anger management.

Chloe Elizabeth Pooley (25) thought the female was mocking an autistic young person she was with.

Boston Magistrates’ Court heard today (Wednesday) that Pooley leapt up, scooped up a meal plate and put it in the woman’s face, causing her head to bang against a wall.

Pooley had admitted the assault on March 21 at a previous hearing.

Today she also pleaded guilty to assaulting a mother and daughter in an incident near Pooley’s home in Granville Terrace, Sutton Bridge, on May 15.

Prosecuting, Nick Todd said of the pub incident: “[The victim] was minding her own business with her friends. Miss Pooley and her party were sitting nearby. She took umbrage, believing that the other table was laughing at her party, particularly [the young person].

“Suddenly she got up, went across, picked up the plate in front of [the victim] and put it into her face, pushing her back so she banged her head on the wall behind.”

The assault caused marks to the face and a lump on the back of her head.

The other incident involved Pooley pulling the hair of both a female who had been staying at her home and the guest’s mum.

Mitigating, Beris Brickles said that assault had been sparked by the mother saying a “provocative comment along the lines of ‘call yourself a mother?’”

He said the pub incident followed an accusation of a complaint about one of Pooley’s party being “autistic in his behaviour”.

Mr Brickles added: “My client accepts she has an anger issue and is seeing a doctor. She’s been in trouble with the police three times this year due to temper control.”

Pooley was given a 12-month community order, with 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days to work on anger management.

She will also be electronically tagged for three months with a home curfew of 8pm-6am.

She was ordered to pay £50 compensation to the victim of the pub assault.
