Repeat offender jailed after driving while disqualified three days after being given suspended sentence

A man has been jailed after being found driving while disqualified three days after magistrates had given him a suspended jail sentence for two previous offences.

In the latest incident Ricky McKay (24) of Brownlow Crescent, Pinchbeck, pleaded driving an Audi A4 while disqualified and without insurance on Victoria Street in Spalding on August 22.

Just three days earlier, on August 19, Lincolnshire Magistrates Court had given him a suspended sentence of 16 weeks imprisonment after he was found driving while disqualified on Wardentree Lane on June 29 2018 and of doing the same on Holland Market on June 24, 2018.

After appearing at Lincoln Magistrates Court on August 23, the suspended sentence was activated with eight weeks added for the most recent offence giving an overall sentence of 24 weeks in prison.

McKay, who pleaded guilty to the most recent charges, was also ordered to pay a £122 surcharge.

His disqualification for holding a driving licence is now 36 months.
