New signings are badly needed to kick-start Pinchbeck United’s season.
That’s the view of player/boss Ian Dunn ahead of Saturday’s Uhlsport UCL Premier Divisions showdown with Harborough Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on Saturday (3pm).
The new-look Knights are lacking in step five experience after a summer of upheaval – and Dunn is hopeful of adding as many as four new faces to the fold in the coming days.
He’s keen to develop the young players currently at the club, but knows that a few experienced heads will do the club the power of good.
He said: “I’ve said it before, but we’re badly lacking that UCL experience you need at this level.
“I’m in talks with a number of players and there’s a chance we could add as many as four new players imminently.
“I’m certainly sure we’ll have at least one and am very hopeful on two others. If we can get four, it’ll be a real bonus.
“I believe in this squad, but they need some help and it’s my job to add a few new faces.”
Dunn is pleased to have at least two new recruits in place for the Harborough game, given how highly he rates them.
He’s secured the signatures of winger Aaron Eyett and striker Tony Edwards, who re-join the Knights after spells with them last season.
Full of youth and able to play exciting football, the player/boss is expecting a tough afternoon.
He added: “Harborough are a very good side. They were good last year and will only improve.
“The council have done a great job with the Sir Halley over the summer and the pitch looks great, so they’ll probably enjoy that too.
“Hopefully we’ll have a little more experience at our disposal to help.”
Ollie Maltby returns, but Nick Jackson is still out. Eyett and Edwards are both expected to feature.
