Bigger portion of tasty food fest

The annual Holbeach Food Festival is back bigger and stronger than ever this weekend and even includes an inaugural strongman competition to be refereed by Geoff Capes.

For the first time the Carter’s Park festival, which is free to attend, will be held over two days, this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

As ever there will be a spectacular array of different foods on offer from a host of local companies.

It’s complemented this year on the Sunday by the South Lincolnshire’s Strongest 2019 competition which is being organised by the town’s Royals Gym and refereed by former World’s Strongest Man, Geoff Capes.

Organiser Sam Fowler, of Royals Gym, said: “It’s a chance for athletes to go head to head against like minded people.”

A host of local groups and organisations will have stalls throughout the weekend.

In terms of food a number of old favourites will be returning and they will be joined by a number of new stalls including Busy Bean Play Café, De Canter with a variety of gin and fizz, Nude food with their wraps, salads and healthy meals, So Sweet with yummy Rocky Road Fudge and The Enchanted Plaza with a range of sauces, meatballs and samosas.

Organiser Coun Nick Worth said: “This is the first year we have held the festival over the whole weekend, based on well attended festivals over the last five years.

“There are over 35 stalls with a range of food, drink, crafts and local information along with the launch of a new strength and endurance competition on the Sunday, which is guaranteed to draw in the crowds, so something for all the family to enjoy.
