Diane takes the plunge in memory of husband

A flight attendant who jumped out of a plane at the weekend in memory of her husband says it was “the best feeling ever”.

Diane Virden (51), of Spalding, took the plunge at Sibson airfield to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, the charity which helped husband Simon when he was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer which had spread to his liver in 2015. He died just 19 days after his diagnosis.

Diane said: “I was a bit nervous. I jumped out at 13,000ft, and free-fell for 8,000ft at 120mph before the parachute was pulled.

“I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again.

“I did it for my husband and everyone else who is suffering with cancer.”

So far Diane has raised over £1,000 and is on the way to hitting her £1,500 target.

She added: “I’ve got a few more people who want to donate so I’ll be keeping my Just Giving page open until the end of the month.”
