Bullish boss Hussey believes Holbeach United will soon turn their poor form around

Danny Hussey is adamant that Holbeach United’s luck has to change ahead of Saturday’s Carter’s Park clash with Rugby Town (3pm).

The Tigers have slipped from fourth to sixth in the Future Lions UCL Premier Division table after a run of five games without a win, with four of them being defeats.

Third-placed Rugby are also on a winless run of five matches, but Holbeach boss Hussey is focusing on his side – insisting they’ll be fine if they produce the same level of performance they managed in last weekend’s 2-1 defeat against champions-elect Daventry Town.

He said: “We’ve played badly in two of those games, but we’ve also deserved to win two of them too.

“There’s no denying that we were poor against both Oadby and Newport Pagnell, but we deserved better against Cogenhoe and Daventry.

“If we play like we did against Daventry, I’m confident that we’ll get a result.

“The performance against Daventry was good and we deserved to win, there’s no question about that in my mind.

“We were more physical and created plenty of chances – my only negative would be that we need to take more of the chances, really.

“I was hard on the lads the week before, but it was much better this time.”

Holbeach should have the same squad available this weekend, but there is a doubt over the availability of striker Will Bird.

His partner is due to give birth this week and Hussey says the ball will be in Bird’s court.

Rugby won the reverse fixture 2-0 back towards the start of the season.
