Snooker round-up: Super 92 clearance from Gray but his Bourne SC A side are beaten

A sensational 92 clearance from Mark Gray was in vain on Thursday night as his Bourne SC A side were beaten 5-1 at Boundary B in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League.

The O105 handicapper made the clearance against Barry Malthouse (R14) in frame two, but was the only Bourne winner as Richard Wilson (O7), Dan Smith (O7), Marty McGhee (scr) and Brian Addy (R7) were all victorious for the Deepings side.

At the top, leaders Holbeach A slipped up 4-2 at home against third-placed club mates Holbeach D. Ian Woodberry’s (scr) final frame victory proved crucial for the D side.

Second-placed Services E cut their advantage to nine points (with a game in hand) by winning 4-2 at Services F, despite Oliver Turner’s (O21) 35 break.

Fourth-placed Pyramid A also picked up a few points on the leaders after a 4-2 win over Sutton A, with John Twell’s (O7) win in the penultimate frame proving key.

In Division Two, leaders Boundary A are six points clear with a game in hand after defeating hosts Pyramid C 4-2.

Stewart Lilley’s (scr) final frame triumph over Malcom Croft (scr) was key in that one.

High-fliers Long Sutton B were also beaten as Gosberton A handed them a 4-2 home reverse.

There were solid breaks of 32, 21 and 21 from Carl Parnell (O28), Wayne Howard (O28) and Adam Twigg (O21) respectively.

The best break at this level came from Mick Johnson (O28), who reeled off a fine 40 in Consti B’s 5-1 home victory over Pyramid C.

Down in Division Three, leaders Donington B are now just a point ahead of the rest after slipping up 4-2 at Gosberton C.

That clash was lit up by an impressive 25 clearance from R14 handicapper Chis Mumby in the decisive final frame.

Holbeach E are now second after a big 5-1 victory over Consti C, with Aaron Coe (scr) reeling off a fine 27 clearance.

Level on points with them in third place are Long Sutton C, who picked up a 4-2 success at Gosberton B. Their frame wins came from Susan Lefley (R21), Alan Fleet (O21) and, crucially, David Lefley (scr).
