Letters – Thanks for Dementia Action Week support

I want to thank everyone in Lincolnshire who united with us during Dementia Action Week (21 – 27 May) to help the 11,000 people with the condition in the county.

We had a ‘dementia friendly cinema’ screening in Boston, a celebration event in Skegness and we held a challenge in Sleaford to persuade dozens of businesses to take actions to help people with the condition. In Spalding and Long Sutton we held Dementia Friends information sessions where people learnt more about dementia and the small ways they can help.

There is still much work to do. During the week, new Alzheimer’s Society research revealed that over half (53%) of people in the East Midlands consider dementia as their greatest concern for old age. We know that too many people face the condition alone, without adequate support.

If you missed out during the week, it’s not too late to unite against dementia in Lincolnshire. Visit alzheimers.org.uk or call our local office on 01522 437069 to find out about the information and support we provide, and how you can get involved and make a difference.
