Letters – We are working on village

I read with interest the letter from R Jackson challenging the villagers of Deeping St Nicholas to ‘get the village going again and take an interest where you live’.

As one of the ‘newcomers’ referred to (a mere six years or so in the village) I cannot speak for the specific buildings mentioned, but I welcome the opportunity to reassure your correspondent and anyone else in or around the village that we are working on it!

We are seeking to build and equip a community hall in the village, which was the biggest ‘wish’ to emerge from the village’s Parish Plan Questionnaire, and have a programme of fundraising events being arranged for this year.
Deeping St Nicholas is not a particularly well-funded parish, so much of this is voluntary work carried out by the Community Trust Committee, which is comprised of many other relative newcomers to the village.

However, there is a lot to do before we will see any building happening, so we would welcome any help from residents, companies, organisations or other parties who would like to see this project become a reality.

So, please come and support our events when they are advertised, and if you can help in any way please contact me at [email protected]. Thank you.

Deborah Croyle, Chair, Deeping St Nicholas Community Trust Committee
