Spalding clinically made short work of thrashing Welby Cavaliers on Saturday before the rain rolled in.
The majority of South Lincolnshire and Borders Premier Division games were abandoned due to the late afternoon weather.
But by the time the rain arrived in Welby, Spalding had already earned the 20 points after skittling the hosts out for just 71.
After taking 3-9 last week, Jonathan Miles was in even better form this week claiming 4-11.
That was after Jack Barratt and Julian Wilson had decimated the majority of the top order.
Half of the latter’s 12 overs were maidens as he took 2-23 while Barratt claimed 3-17 from his ten overs.
There were two catches each for Miles and keeper Jordan Butcher as Spalding fielded well, rounded off by the final wicket falling to a run out instigated by Barratt in just the 35th over of the innings.
For Welby, only Vidit Matta (17) and Sharath Upadhya (14) made double figures.
With the dark clouds looming Spalding knew they need to complete the job quickly, and they took just 12.5 overs to record the nine wicket win.
Town lost Joseph Broomfield early for 4 after he was trapped lbw by Upadhya but it was plain sailing from there on in.
Joe Manton hit 39 not out and Warren Nell 22 not out to complete the victory.
The importance of the timing of the win was more evident later when news filtered through that only two other games in the entire South Lincolnshire and Border League beat the weather.
It’s now three wins out of three from matches played so far this season which sees Spalding second in the early season Premier Division table.
Spalding Town return to the Memorial Ground this weekend as they host Grantham 2nd on Saturday who so far this season have had three of their four games abandoned and lost their other fixtures.
