There has to be a very good reason to jump out of a perfectly good aeroplane.
And one Gedney Hill mum certainly has good reason as she is raising money for a charity very close to her heart.
But she will be marking Valentine’s Day by leaping from a plane.
Aimee Bilham (35) will be raising money in memory of her sister who died as a baby after she was born with spina bifida.
The sky dive will be raising money for Shine, a charity which helps those with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, in memory of Aimee’s sister Raphael.
She was born in 1981 and was just three weeks old when she died.
Aimee was born the following year.
“I wanted to remember my sister and I have an issue with heights,” said Aimee, who works as a carer for people with disabilities.
“I have never done anything like this before – it might be a mid-life crisis,” she joked.
Her husband Robin said it was ‘the bravest thing’ Aimee had ever tried.
He and the couple’s daughters Anya and Grace will be watching
“We have promoted it among friends and family,” he said, and added that Aimee hoped to raise around £1,000 for the charity from the sky dive.
The family will be travelling to Beccles Heliport, in Suffolk, on February 14 when Aimee will jump from a plane while attached to an instructor.
Her fear of heights was motivation in itself, she said.
