Saturday football: Spalding United sink Chasetown, Maltby double sends Pinchbeck United up to second

Two-second half goals earned Spalding United a 2-0 win over Chasetown on Saturday, while an Ollie Maltby brace steered Pinchbeck United to a fine 3-2 victory at Lutterworth Athletic.

Starting with the Tulips, goals from Gary King (pen 53) and Nathan Whitehead (81) fired Chris Rawlinson’s side to three Evo-Stik NPL First Division South points at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

The victory, Spalding’s fourth from five home games in the league, moves them up to fourth in the table.

Meanwhile, Pinchbeck came from behind to beat Lutterworth Athletic 3-2 and leapfrog them into second place in the ChromaSport UCL Division One table.

Having fallen behind, Josh Smith levelled on 26 minutes before Ollie Maltby (53 and 63) put the Knights 3-1 to the good.

A late strike set up a grandstand finish, but Ian Dunn’s side held on to move level on points with leaders Raunds Town.

In the Buildbase FA Vase, Jordan Keeble’s late winner fired Holbeach United to a 2-1 triumph over Huntingdon Town (full report here).

Down in the ChromaSport PDFL, Moulton Harrox remain top of the pile in the Premier Division after a convincing 5-1 success at Deeping Rangers.

But there were defeats for Holbeach United Reserves and Sutton Bridge United, who went down 3-1 at Peterborough Sports Reserves and 4-3 at home to Ketton respectively.

In Division One, champions Moulton Harrox Reserves are second after beating Netherton United Reserves 3-1, while Long Sutton Athletic are fourth after a 6-0 romp at Oakham United Reserves.

Crowland Town also won 3-1, while Jake Clitheroe’s hat-trick fired Tydd St Mary to a 4-2 home success over Stamford Belvedere.
