Whitewash wins as trio romp home

Three matches in the Spalding and District Billiards League produced whitewash wins for the victors on Monday.

Mid-table Holbeach B stormed to an emphatic 7-0 success over Gosberton B who had started the evening in fifth place.

Denis Hix (R70) rattled in a 30 break to get Holbeach B off to a winning start with victory over Shane White (O20) who replied with a 21 break of his own.

Nigel Ward (R100) and Tony Blanchard (R60) then completed the victory for Holbeach B despite Marcus Pell (O20) bagging a 25 break for Gosberton.

Consti B were the second team of the week to complete a clean sweep after defeating Crowland B 7-0.

Steve Spencer (R90) set them on their way with victory over Rob Childs (O230) who made breaks of 31, 24, 30, 28, 27 and 45 in a valiant bid to make up the handicap deficit.

Mick Johnson (O170) was in fine form with breaks to 41, 39, 56 and 20 to defeat Paul Holland (R60) while John Keeton (R30) sealed the overall win by beating Allan Sharman (R60).

Gosberton A leapfrogged Holbeach A in the standings after their 7-0 victory.

Andy Shephard (R120), Norman Gookey (R80) and Malc Dennis (R120) were their match-winners despite Alan Yardley (R10) making a 28 break and Hugh Pinner (O120) contributed 33 and 22 breaks in their defeats.

Donington ensured they stayed in the hunt for honours after a 5-2 success over Consti D.

Jason Rose (R30) had plundered breaks of 20 and 34 to get Consti D off to a winning start with victory over Sid Shaw (O10) who had replied with two 21 breaks.

But Donington hit back as Ben Wrigglesworth (R70) made a 25 break to level the scores before Matt Turner (R50) triumphed in the deciding frame.
