Leaders Donington C rack up ninth victory

It was a case of another week, another win for relentless Donington C in Spalding and District Snooker League Division One.
The unbeaten top tier leaders made it nine wins from as many games by dispatching a strong Bourne SC A side 5-1 on Thursday night.
Despite losing the opening frame, wins from Gav Lewis (R7), Neil Reynolds (O49), Neil Favel (O14) and Graham Slater (R14) ensured Donington are five points clear at the top.
Ace potter Mark Gray (O105) did make a 47 break for Bourne, but he was beaten by Lewis, who made a 22 break of his own.
Another Bourne side, Pyramid B, fared much better at Services A as they won 6-0 to close the gap on the leaders by one point.
The in-form Spencer Dawkins (O42) made a 21 break for second-placed Pyramid.
However, Holbeach A are now nine points off the pace following a 5-1 home reverse against Tulips A.
Jem Merrison (O35) and Steve Smith (O14) both made 20 breaks in that one.
Tulips B, who have a game in hand on the trio above them, are fourth after a 4-2 victory over Whittlesey A.
Martin Deacon (O7) settled that clash with a final frame success over Gary Thewliss (scr).
Gosberton B are level on points with Tulips B having seen off Boundary A 4-2. That was despite a 22 clearance from Pete King (R7) in frame one.
Elsewhere in the top flight, there were four black-ball games in Consti F’s 5-1 win at Services C. Kev Fitter’s (O21) 23 break helped him win Services’ only frame.
In Division Two, breaks of 32 and 25 from Sean Swinburn (O28) helped leaders Long Sutton A beat Whittlesey C 5-1. They are two points clear of Consti G.
One of the best games at this level involved two struggling sides, however.
Boundary C saw off Crowland C 4-2 to leapfrog them in the table, with Paul Spittlehouse (O56) and Mick Walker (O28) racking up breaks of 39 and 24 respectively.
Paul Spicer (scr) made a 25 clearance for Crowland, who are now in the bottom three.
Consti B are going well in third, having seen off basement boys Pyramid C 5-1. John Keeton (O14) managed a 24 break for them in a black-ball triumph over Malcolm Croft (scr).
They are now ahead of Holbeach B, who were beaten 4-2 at home by Pyramid D.
James Sharpe (O42) sank a 20 break for the Bourne boys, who are in mid-table.
Down in Division Three, Gosberton C applied some pressure on leaders Consti A by winning 4-2 at their fellow club side Consti C.
Malc Dennis (R14) settled this one with a victory in the final frame.
But the table-toppers ended the night one point further clear at the summit, having won 5-1 against friendly foes Consti D.
Nick Savic (O49) starred for them with breaks of 29 and 21, ensuring they moved four points ahead at the top.
Long Sutton C are also sitting pretty in mid-table with games in hand on every team above them.
Dan Mayfield’s (O21) 22 clearance was the highlight for Sutton, who have only lost once all season.
At the bottom, basement side Whittlesey B finally got their first win of the season.
They saw off Pyramid E 4-2 with Kerry Skutela (R28), Michael Foster (scr) and Andy Skutela (R21) getting the wins.
