Holbeach hit back in whitewash

Holbeach C returned to winning ways in the Spalding and District Billiards League with an emphatic victory on Monday night.

After suffering an away loss at Donington last week, the table-toppers whitewashed stable-mates Holbeach B 7-0 to maintain their grip on pole position.

Victories for Ben Harding (R80), James Glover (R90) and Colin Dodd (R80) helped maintain top spot from challengers Donington and Long Sutton.

Sutton were 5-2 away winners at Gosberton B as Mick Cooper (O150) cracked in breaks of 27, 24, 33, 44, 31 and 30 to get his side back on level terms after Shane White (O20) had won the opener for Gosberton.

Joe Garland (R70) then claimed victory in the deciding frame to keep Sutton in the hunt for honours.

Consti C moved off the bottom of the table in style with a crushing 7-0 home success over Gosberton A.

John Bellerby (R80), Stewart Davies (R30) and Alan Hansard (R60) were their victors to move up three places in the standings.

Consti D moved further away from the lower reaches of the table after a 5-2 away triumph at Pyramid B.

John Walker (R100) won the decisive frame for Consti after Pyramid’s Martin O’Connor (R10) had cancelled out J. Rose’s (R30) opening win for the visitors.
