Champions are toppled as Holbeach keep up fine start

Reigning champions Donington A suffered their second defeat from three outings in the new Spalding and District Snooker League season.
They went down to a 5-1 reversal away at Holbeach A who have made a flying start to the new campaign with two wins from their two matches.
Kevin Hawes’ (R14) victory over Mick Pearl (O14), which included a 25 clearance, was Donington’s sole success.
Colin Dodds (O7) led the Holbeach charge with a 32 clearance in his victory over Jim Thompson (O14) with Mick Ayres jnr (R14), Jem Merrison (O35) and Bobby White (O21) also victorious.
Pyramid B also have a 100 per cent record from their two matches after beating Bourne A 5-1.
Services A are also in contention near the top of the early standings after a 4-1 success over Boundary B.
Mike Knight (O21) rattled in breaks of 29 and 22 in his victory which was backed up by wins from Pete Mullane (O21) and Colin Knight (O7).
Mark (O49) and Darren Woodberry (O42) both finished on the losing side despite bagging breaks of 31 and 34 respectively in their wins for Tulips B against Services C.
Nigel Cherry (O21), Mark Spiller (scr) and Kev Fitter (O21) were the victors for Services C, who are newly-promoted to the top flight this term.
Josh Fell’s (O14) 23 break helped him clinch victory on the black ball as Gosberton B ran out 4-2 winners against Whittlesey A.
Adam Twigg (O7) and Jamie Mumby (R14) were the other winners as Gosberton claimed their maiden success of the campaign.
Tulips A are also up and running after recording their first win in a 4-2 triumph over Consti F.
Victories in the final three frames from Brett Addison (R7), Mike Sampson (O7) and Martin Anderson (O7) secured the success for Tulips.
Services E’s mixed start continued with a 4-2 away loss at Boundary A despite wins from Chris Dunmore (O14) and Kev Emerson (R27).
The Division Two clash between Crowland C and Consti I went right down to the wire with all five frames being decided on the black ball.
Crowland eventually triumphed 5-1 courtesy of successes from Paul Spiller (scr), Russell Morse (O14), Jim Howe (O35) – who hit a 26 break – and Jeff Roberts (R14) 65.
Simon Slinger (scr) produced a 22 clearance to claim a black ball victory for Gosberton D in their 4-2 reversal against stable-mates Gosberton A.
Steve Mooney (O35) had earlier also won on the black ball to set Gosberton A on their way with Andy Ward (R14) and Peter Waterfall (R14) also triumphant for the victors.
Consti G are the early pacesetters in the division after an emphatic 6-0 whitewash of Pyramid D.
Andy Grimwood (O7) was a double victor for Consti with John Barnes (O7), Nigel West (scr) and Martin Drury (R14) also in the winners’ enclosure.
Long Sutton A are also unbeaten after three matches following their 4-2 away win at Consti B.
Dan Mayfield (O21) set Sutton on their way with a 27 clearance while Wayne Dent (O35) produced breaks of 23 and 35 in his victory.
Derek Beba (O7) was Sutton’s other success with Steve Spencer (R21) and Mick Johnson (O28) – who made a break of 21 – replying for the hosts.
Consti H made it two wins from two with a 4-2 home victory over Boundary C.
Tony Houghton (R21) set them on their way with a black ball victory over Mick Walker (O28) before Josh Agger (O7) produced a 22 clearance to restore parity.
Seb Grimston (O21) lost out on a respotted black after producing a 25 clearance against Ash Heywood (scr) as Boundary edged ahead.
However, Jack Morgan (R21) and Doug Carfoot (O21) won the last two frames to secure Consti’s victory.
Oliver Turner (O28) hit a 24 break to claim victory on the black ball as Services recorded a 4-2 away win at Pyramid C.
Jack Chilvers (O28) had earlier lost out on the black ball as the hosts hit back following Tom Turner’s (scr) opening frame win. Gareth Lamb (O7) was also victorious for Services.
Gosberton C are leading the way in the early Division Three standings after a 4-2 away win at Whittlesey B.
Norman Gookey’s (O7) 22 clearance was the highlight of the away victory which was secured by frame successes from Alf Ault (O21) and Malc Dennis (O14).
Whittlesey’s two victories came courtesy of defeats on the black ball for Andy Shephard (O21) and Paul Craft (O14).
Nick Savic’s (O49) breaks of 35 and 25 were Consti A’s only consolation in a 5-1 home defeat against Services B.
Jeff Collins’ (R14) victory on the black ball set Services on their way with Mike Small (R14), Paul Doades (R14) and Alan Hansard (scr) also following suit.
Consti J were 5-1 away victors at Pyramid E thanks to a frame win from Nev Vickers (R7) and successes on the black ball by Les Andrews (O14), Nick Keeble (O21) and Stu Davies (O14).
Tom Digby’s (R14) 27 clearance won the opening frame for Consti D in their home match against Donington B.
But the visitors bounced back to claim a 4-2 triumph thanks to wins from Dave Banister (scr), Darren Templeman (R7) and Mick Clark (R14).
Consti E returned from Donington D with a 5-1 success courtesy of victories from Bob Adams (O7), Lindsay Porter (R14) and a double from John Mumford (R21).
