Long Sutton set early pace

Long Sutton are the early pacesetters in the Spalding and District League Billiards League after an emphatic 7-0 whitewash of Gosberton A on Monday night.

 
Mick Cooper (O140) was in cracking form for the victors with a string of breaks (36, 35, 27, 21, 32, 21, 22) in his victory which followed successes by team-mates Joe Garland (R70) and Adam Barwell (O50).

 
Donington are hot on Sutton’s heels after a tidy 5-2 away triumph at Consti B which saw Mick Johnson record the highest break of the season so far for the hosts.

 
Johnson (O170) rattled home a 74 break in his victory over Donington’s Matt Turner (R50) which also included efforts of 35, 21, 22, 25, 42 and 39.

 
However, Jim Thompson (R30) and Ben Wrigglesworth (R70) had earlier put Donington in a commanding position to claim the win.

 
Holbeach C also have two wins from two outings after a 5-2 victory at Gosberton C.

 
Ben Harding (R90) and Colin Dodd (R80) were their victors with Shane White (O20) hitting breaks of 29 and 25 to pip James Glover (R90) by a solitary point to claim Gosberton’s consolation.

 
Consti D ran out emphatic 7-0 winners over stable-mates Consti C on the back of wins from Jason Rose (R30), Pat Bowman (R110) and John Harker (R100).
