Support plea ahead of walking festival

The second South Lincolnshire Walking Festival gets under way next month with a plea for financial support.
The festival runs for five weeks through September and October, with 80 varied walks for families to choose from.
But financial pressures mean its future is under threat and people are being asked to chip in to keep it going.
Festival co-ordinator Beverley Gormley said: “This year we’re asking for people to kindly donate towards the production of the brochure and the running costs of the festival. So if you really want to see your festival continue, as little as £3 will make a huge difference.”
The festival gets under way at noon on Saturday, September 24, with the launch and family fun day at Willow Tree Fen Nature Reserve between Spalding and Baston.
Along with a choice of six guided walks, there will be crafts and activities for everybody to get stuck into. There will be den building, pond dipping, badge making, owl pellet dissection and more.
