Guests’ shock as Spalding charity dinner turns out to also be secret wedding reception

Guests at a charity dinner got a huge surprise when they learned they were also at the organiser’s wedding reception.

The event on Saturday, March 26 was arranged by Kelly Varley – who became Kelly Tizzano that morning.

She married long-term partner Rocco at Spalding Registry Office before dashing off to the South Holland Centre for the night’s final arrangements.

Staff at Salon Alchemy in Boston, which the Spalding couple own, thought Rocco was not working because he was helping set up for the hairdressing salon’s event, which raised about £3,500 for The Little Princess Trust.

Kelly and Rocco managed to keep their secret from the 250 guests until midway through the night when the bride announced: “We thought ‘we love each other so much and we don’t want to spend ten grand on a wedding’.
“Tonight all of our friends are going to be in the same room together. Do you know what…why don’t we just go to the registry office?”

And at that point their six-year-old son, Alfie, got on the microphone to declare: “They got married!”

Guests screamed their shock and delight and flooded on to the dance floor to congratulate them.
