Police op targets motor dangers

A police operation to crackdown on traffic offences took place on the A16 earlier this month.

Operation Excess took place on the road between Spalding and Boston on Frida,y October 2 and aimed to target dangerous vehicles.
A second day of operation took place the following day on the A1 near Grantham.
Over both days Lincolnshire Police say that 52 vehicles were stopped.
Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of drug driving.
A 28-year-old man and a 33-year-old man have been released under investigation pending further inquiries.
Motorists were also stopped for offences including having no licence, no insurance, no MoT or vehicle tax, defective tyres and dangerous loads.
Other offences included using mobile phones at the wheel, speeding and not using seatbelts.
Inspector Jason Baxter from the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our officers continue to work with colleagues from the Driver Vehicle Standards Agency to target and tackle those drivers who choose to drive vehicles that are in a dangerous condition or driven by those under the influence of drink or drugs, with no insurance or licence, or committing offences that increase the risk to all of those who use the roads in a safe and considerate manner in our county.
“These operations take place at different locations around Lincolnshire at different times.
“I am sure the vast majority of our road users support us targeting and dealing positively with those who cause a danger to us all.”
