Colts leave second-placed Mariners all at sea

Long Sutton Colts leapfrogged their club colleagues from Mallards with a 125-run victory over second-placed

Thornham Mariners in the Kevin Grimmer Division of the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League.
That was while Mallards were going down by four wickets at runaway leaders Downham Stow Seconds.
The Colts innings was built round an huge middle-order stand between Ed Blundy-Gent (77ret) and Alice Blundy-Gent (40) as the Sutton team progressed from 73/5 to 221/5 on their way to a final score of 228/6 from their 40 overs.
The Norfolk coast side made a decent start to reach 45 without loss but then crashed to 51/4 and 68/9, with a last-wicket stand enabling them to limp into three figures on 103 before the last wicket fell.
Fred Fox-Brown
(3-24) and Riley Norris (334) were the pick of the home bowlers.
At Downham, captain Ali Drohan held things together with a 57-ball 68, including 11 4s, supported by Steven Milnes (42) and Vijay Karavadara (28) as they posted a decent 214/8 from their 40 overs.
They had the unbeaten leaders rocking on 6/2 with both openers bowled by Milnes (2-49) but the arrival of captain Jack Stacey at the crease changed things dramatically.
He hit four 6s and 17 4s in a 50-ball 101 before retiring with his team on 134/3.
Two wickets soon fell with Ellis Redden taking 2-43 but a seventh-wicket stand between Ashden Knott (25no) and Sonny Jackson (11no) pushed the home team to a winning 216/6 after 32 overs.
