In the running for new kit

A Spalding RUFC coach is gearing up to go the extra miles for his team.

Carl Townsend is head coach of the Elephants’ u14/15 team and is running 25K to raise money towards the cost of new kits for the team next season.

So far he has raised £645 of his £2,500 target and said: “We have a great group of lads who play for our team and I’ve been trying to find a sponsor to get the lads match shirts for next season.

“So far I have been unsuccessful, so I decided I  would do something that will hopefully raise the money for the shirts.

“I’m going to run 25k around the Spalding rugby grounds on Sunday, July 26 in the hope of raising the £2,500 needed to get the match shirts, substitutes’ jackets and hoodies and the coaches’ hoodies as well.

“I hope this can be achieved and will be grateful to anyone who could donate for the boys.

“It will be really good if we can have all the boys show up to matches next season in the matching kit that they deserve.”

In his preparation, Townsend has been trying to run at least every other day.

To support the coach and his aim, a GoFundMe page has been set up – https://gofund.me/2fbbb467f
