Special lunch for village’s elderly

An annual Quadring institution proved a hit for the 72nd time.

Every year a committee puts on a Senior Citizens Party for all the elderly in the village.

This year it fell on Friday, June 19.

Following fundraising throughout the village 60 people attended on Friday, June 19 to enjoy an afternoon tea created by Amy’s Kitchen of Donington.

They enjoyed singing by Alan Jackson before all of the attendees were given a leaving gift of a planter, wine or chocolates.

Heather Diggins, who is one of the organisers, said: “It went really well.

“It was lovely to see everybody’s faces and they all said they enjoyed it.

“We’ve had no end of messages thanking us and even people stopping me on the street to say how much of a good time they had.”
