A collision that led to a motorcyclist being taken to hospital with serious injuries has led to a district councillor’s call for changes at a renowned junction.
Coun Gary Taylor is calling for further safety measures to be implemented at the junction of Park Road and Pinchbeck Road in Spalding.
It follows an incident where one person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
It occurred shortly before 7pm on Wednesday, June 17 and involved a Triumph Motorcycle and a Ford Fiesta.
The road was closed until 1am the next morning and Lincolnshire Police say investigations are continuing.
Coun Taylor says he is calling for ‘an urgent site visit’ and ‘a plan to be designed to improve safety’.
Highways authority Lincolnshire County Council has already started work on its Active Travel scheme to improve part of that junction and Pinchbeck Road for cyclists and pedestrians.
Coun Taylor though says improvements should make it safer as a whole.
“My thoughts are with those involved in the accident,” he said. “It was terribly shocking for all involved including friends and family.
“We need to make the necessary improvements to this busy junction, with the ambition to make this junction safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.“
