Both the Royal Mail Cart BC National Men’s Bowls England Top Club team and National Open Bowls England Club Two Fours team were in area quarter-final action on Sunday.
The Top Club took on Blackstones in Stamford and in the two-bowl singles Ben Wilson just lost out in the last ends 14-11 to Wayne Morris.
In the four-bowl singles, Ashley Caress faced Owen Aspinall and a nip-and-tuck game saw him recover from 8-0 down to win 21-19.
The Mail Cart were in control of the other disciplines – pairs, triples and fours – to finish overall 4-1 winners. That earned them a semi-final place at Cleethorpes.

The Club Two Fours team were at home to South Ferriby Vikings and Mail Cart started brightly, leading 12-7 after five ends and 22-15 after 10.
At 15 ends, the match was firmly in their grasp as they held a 19 shot lead and the game was completed soon after 42-18 to earn a home semi-final against Grantham.

The preliminary round of the Spalding & District League Sid Lane Cup saw Royal Mail Cart A beat Gosberton on all three rinks. Their next match in the last 16 stage will be at Crowland Town.

In the section 4 EBA Fours League Royal Mail Cart A were at home to Moulton Harrox after opening with three straight wins.
A closely fought match saw only three shots in it before Cart pulled away to win 55-45 and collect seven of the eight points available to them.
They won on 2 rinks and drew on the other rink with the top winning rink skipped by Ben Wilson, with Dan Mills, Martin Simpson and Chris Mycock who won 19-13.
Other rink scores: Steve Hill, Ben Sharp, Ruby Philpott, Chelsea Spencer won 20-16; Sally Humphries, Phil Cooke, Graham Smith, Martin Spencer drew 16-16.
Royal Mail Cart’s Division Two A team went down 53-45 to Long Sutton, with a drawn rink gaining just one point from 10.
That rink was skipped by George Richardson, with John Breed and Alan Shakespeare who fought out a 15-15 draw.
Other rink scores: Judith Lacey, Aarron Bates, Rob Lacey lost 16-17; Graham Astley, Elaine Mycock, Ian Brickles lost 14-21.
Cart’s Division One B team’s three-match winning start to the season came to a halt with a 63-36 defeat at Bourne Town in difficult green conditions.
The winning rink was skipped by Phil Cooke, with Sue Jackson and Steve Hill who won 19-8.
Other rink scores: Mel Mashford, Ed Baxter, Mick Dolton lost 7-23; Nigel Brown, Ben Sharp, Paul Turner lost 10-32.
The Friday Afternoon League saw Carters Park as the host club. The A team rink of Stuart Callaby, George Richardson and Paul Turner beat Sutton Bridge 26-15, while the table-topping B team of Graham Astley, Alan Shakespeare and Joe Mellon maintained their lofty position with a 22-10 win against Long Sutton.
Royal Mail Cart’s Friday Night League team fell to a third defeat on the bounce, going down 56-52 at Swineshead.
The winning rink won 20-12 and was skipped by Aidan Brickles, with George Richardson and Judith Lacey.
Other rink scores: Joy Hardacre, Ed Baxter, Ian Brickles lost 20-21; John Breed, Graham Brickles, Rob Lacey lost 12-23.
