National Top Club start with strong away victory

The Royal Mail Cart BC national men’s Bowls England Top Club team got their campaign this season underway, with a tricky first round trip to Horncastle BC.

The outdoor competition is over the best of five points with the five disciplines of two-bowl singles, four-bowl singles, pairs, triples and fours.

In the two-bowl singles, Ben Wilson got the opening point for the Mail Cart, winning by 14 shots to seven. In the four-bowl singles Ashley Caress got home 21-14 to leave Mail Cart requiring one of the three other matches to win.

  • Another week of local bowls league action began in the section 4 EBA fours league, with Royal Mail Cart A away against Castle, and Royal Mail Cart B at home to Moulton Harrox.

For the B team, Harrox proved too strong and they lost by 41 shots to 69, losing 8-0.

  • After a first win of the season last week in Division Two, Royal Mail Cart A were hoping to continue their success with a match away against Spalding Town BC B.

  • On to the Thursday night league which saw the two Mail Cart teams in the 12 players division face off.

The A team started the season with two wins from two games but the B team had only picked up one rink point over their three matches.
