A new group has taken on a charity stall that helps raise money for Spalding’s hospital as the charity behind it said thank you to those who helped bring it back.
The Trolley Shop is wheeled out in the foyer as a fundraiser for the Friends of Johnson Hospital, as well as to provide everyday supplies to patients or visitors who are not expecting to be in a hospital.
It raises funds for equipment and services that aren’t available through the NHS.
The Trolley Shop had to stop due to a lack of volunteers to man it, but 18 months ago the members of Pinchbeck WI offered to do just that.
It’s proved a success once again raising thousands.
Now the WI volunteers are stepping back and Sally Goodacre, a recent member of the Friends’ charity is taking on the stall instead.
Friends secretary Christine Grocock said: “We extend our deepest gratitude to the wonderful members of he Pinchbeck WI, who generously made time from their busy schedules to help reinstate this vital service.
“Their dedication has brought comfort and connection to so many.”
Sally said: “Taking on the Trolley Shop feels like such a natural fit,” says Sally.
“Having the trolley with me gives a wonderful, practical reason to approach patients and strike up a conversation, rather than turning up cold.
“It really opens the door to connect with people and brightens their day.”
