Free art sessions for community

Free art sessions are being put on at a Spalding community centre.

Transported Arts are putting on several sessions on Wednesdays at Project St Thomas as part of their Art Road Trip project.

The most recent saw artist Kerry Wint pop along to using biros and watercolours, using a layering technique, to create their own recreation of paintings that can be found in Lincolnshire’s iconic Usher Gallery.

The next takes place on Wednesday, May 27 and will involve artist Dovile Sakalauskaite showing how to line, texture, and expression of portraits through sgraffito – a technique using scratching through surfaces to create decorative patterns.

There’s also one on June 3 where Laura Mabbutt will show how to create a layered mixed-media artwork or small three-dimensional scene, weaving together visual imagery and storytelling elements.

A spokesman for Transported Arts said of the sessions which will run from 10am to 3pm.

“There’s no need to book, simply drop in to Project St Thomas on St Thomas’s Road.

“All ages and abilities welcome!”
