A garden waste scheme has been reopened and now anybody in the district can register.
South Holland District Council’s Garden Waste scheme has had issues in recent years with a total pause on people being able to join the scheme having been in effect for more than a year.
But now the authority says anyone in the district can register for the service that has an annual cost of £62.50 for 24 collections of garden waste.
“We have redesigned the garden waste service so that we can extend it to all areas of South Holland,” a spokesman said.
Coun Jim Astill, portfolio holder for corporate and environmental services at South Holland District Council, said:
“I’m pleased that we can now extend the Garden Waste Collection Service to all parts of the district.
“We have completed a service redesign that has included planning collection routes to allow the expansion of the service and online systems modifications to enable you to subscribe.
“The new service will especially help those residents who find it difficult to get to one of the county’s household waste recycling centres and who don’t want to compost their green waste.”
You can apply to join the service at https://www.sholland.gov.uk/gardenwaste
As well as the annual fee there is a off-one £54.40 charge to cover delivery, repairs and purchase of the bin.
