Weston Marsh residents have been having their say on proposed substations.
National Grid has revealed the plans for infrastructure which is part of a number of proposed projects including the Grimsby to Walpole and East Leicestershire overhead power lines.
It wants to build the 26-acre Substation A east of Marsh Road near Surfleet Seas End, first.
It would be connected by underground cables to Substation B, a 22-acre site planned for north of Stone Gate and east of Marsh Road near Moulton Seas End.
Two consultation sessions were held in Weston and Moulton Seas End at the weekend.
Weston resident Jenny Partington was there for the entire two days and said around 100 people attended.
“Some of the residents, particularly those near the proposed site of Weston Marsh B, were completely unaware of it,” she said. “The locations have only come about in the last few days.
“It’s very close to a nursery and four homes.
“We all appreciate that there’s a need for new energy projects but there’s better ways of delivering it, including keeping it offshore.”
Jenny, who has lived in the area for 35 years with her husband who grew up there, also spoke to Weston Parish Council about the sessions on Monday.
“No-one is talking about food security and Lincolnshire is the country’s bread basket,” said Jenny. “We’re going to end up being like a industrial area.
“National Grid has asked us to put forward notes and proposals for alterations and they’ll look at it.”
One concern is that construction traffic will use small roads off the A151 to access the sites.
“There will be hundreds of construction lorries a day,” Jenny said.
The group Lincolnshire Against Needless Destruction (LAND) has criticised the timing of the consultation which runs until December 19.
A spokesman for the group said: “The timing of the consultation — during one of the busiest periods of the year — reduces public engagement and risks leaving ordinary residents unable to respond.”
It has also encouraged those against all of the energy projects to send their views on the Weston Marsh substations.
Both would have equipment 12.5 metres high with overhead gantries 15 metres high.
It would be built in two phases, first to connect the Outer Dowsing and then to complete the proposed Grimsby to Walpole overhead lines.
