MacKenzie walks away with trophy

A busy night of darts across the Crowson Volkswagen, Pinchbeck & District Winter Darts League saw close contests, high checkouts and standout performances.

With several matches being postponed, the spotlight fell on tight Division A battles and dominant displays in Division B.

In Division A, Consti Club C defeated Lincoln Arms D 6–3 in a strong home performance.
Jimmy Robinson impressed with a 105 checkout, while Paul Faulkner and Jordan Philpott secured key singles wins to seal the result.

Black Bull Kirton edged Green Dragon A 5-4 in a close contest.

Wins from Chris Brinkley, Karl Louth, Mark Graham, and Shaun Baxter in the first four singles gave Black Bull the cushion they needed.

Royal Mail Cart overcame Services Club B 6-3.

The hosts raced to a 4-0 lead before Tony Clark got Services on the board with a 2-1 win over Claire Brookin. Dave Norbury and Ady Smith added late singles wins for Services. Jack Chilvers and Daz Gedney fired a 16-dart leg for Mail Cart, while Ady Smith responded with a 17-darter.

Pinchbeck FC B beat Drayman’s Arms 5-4 in a match featuring big scores. Phil Newton (Drayman’s) and Connor MacKenzie (Pinchbeck FC) both hit 180s.

Tom Elderkin clinched the win for Pinchbeck with a 2-1 victory over Newton in the last singles.

In Division B, Green Dragon Z defeated Services Club A 6-3, with Kieran Day of the Dragon hitting a 180 to highlight the night.

Consti Club Z dominated Green Dragon C 8-1. Despite JP Horton and Adam Rear winning the opening pairs for Dragon, Consti took control from there. Dean Hutson for the Dragon had a 180.

Kirton Leisure cruised past Consti Club A 8-1. Graham Nicholls checked out on 108 for the Leisure, while Merv Pattinson earned Consti’s only point with a 2-0 win over Alex Bemrose.

* There was a fantastic turnout for the second anniversary of the Fred Vines Memorial Darts Trophy held on Saturday, November 1 at the Spalding Services Club, with players and supporters alike honouring Fred’s memory in true sporting spirit.

Steve Rawding, of the Pinchbeck Darts League, said: “A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who took part – each and every player gave it their all, and it truly felt like Fred was watching over us.

“Special thanks go to Dean Murray and Connor Newton for presenting the trophy to this year’s winner, Connor Mackenzie.

“Congratulations also to runner-up Scott Church, and to semi-finalists Connor Newton and Dave Norbury for their strong performances throughout the competition.”

* Monday night saw the trebles tournament in the Spalding and District Darts League, which had a record of 41 teams in total.

In Division One the trio of Sam Roberts, Jack Chilvers and Chris Fidler, of Consti A, won the tournament for the third season in a row, beating a much-fancied Rose and Crown trio of Logan Goddard, Ant Richardson and Duncan Hunt.

What made it even better for the Consti team is they didn’t drop a leg all night.

In Division Two the title went to Holbeach Services A who beat Rose and Crown B in the final.

The Services team was Mike Ocock, Stu Stephens and Chris Blakey and they beat Simon Clare, Dave Henderson and Leo Clarkson in the final.

On to Division Three and the final was between two new teams, Pinchbeck United and Mulberry’s, who have both started the season very well.

This was a well supported game being played on the stage and Pinchbeck came out on top.

The Pinchbeck trio was Tom Elderkin and youngsters Harvey Elderkin and Connor Mckenzie.

It was a tight game that went all the way with Mulberry’s Shane Thorpe missing the bullseye for a huge 164 check-out to win it. Chris Page also had a go at winning but wired the double. The other player was Wigs Harrison.
