Construction work is now due to start next spring on the first phase of the Spalding to Pinchbeck ‘Active Travel Improvements.’
The first two phases are set to take eight months and will see work around Forge Close to West Elloe Avenue and from West Elloe Avenue to Enterprise Way.
In May Lincolnshire County Council said the works were due to start this ‘autumn’ but that’s now been pushed back at least six month.
The £1.8m cost of the project will come from a fund awarded to the authority in 2022.
The remaining three phases have yet to be funded and won’t go ahead until money is found.
“This money is ringfenced for this particular project only, and cannot be spent on other highways improvements or repairs,” said a county council statement.
A series of drainage surveys are being carried out overnight to find any unknown drainage pipes or apparatus.
The project aims to improve travel options between Spalding and Pinchbeck with cycleways and pedestrian-friendly routes.
County Coun Ingrid Sheard said the highways team ‘is incredibly busy ‘working behind the scenes.’
