LETTERS – Cruelty must be stopped

I was appalled to read in last week’s issue of The Voice a repeat of an application to open a factory farm with plans to house up to 3.8 million chickens a year.

This is sheer cruelty and must be stopped.

I still don’t understand why the government has not banned factory farms.

I have seen film clips of tens of thousands of chicken crushed together, unable to move in vast glass buildings. It has to stop.

And if all of this is not enough, how on earth did a Halal butcher obtain permission to open in Spalding, which I understand practices no-stun slaughter. It has to stop.
