The majority of the residents at Swallows Court in Spalding are very unhappy about a new proposed cycle way along one side of Pinchbeck Road.
Letters were sent to residents on July 24 asking for any objections to this proposal by September 4, which seems a very short period of time in which to raise any major issues.
The pavement along Pinchbeck Road is already narrow and bumpy because of mature trees and tree roots, so there is very little room for an extra cycle way and pedestrians to both safely coexist.
Crucially there is already an existing cycle way on the other side of the road which can be safely used by cyclists.
It does seem that the rights of cyclists are being put above the needs of older members of the community, particularly from places like Swallows Court who have mobility and eyesight issues.
Easy access to walking routes and the town centre is vital for the residents of Swallows Court who are all over 60 and prioritising cyclists over their needs is foolhardy and discriminatory.
