A woman punched a shop assistant after trying to steal a handbag, a court heard.
Kimberley Williams was proven in absence of an assault by beating and theft from a shop on December 5 last year by a judge at Boston Magistrates’ Court.
Williams (38), of St Thomas’s Road, Spalding, assaulted Emily Davy who was working at Robert Goddard in Spalding.
A victim statement read out in court stated that Williams had gone into the now closed shop in Market Place with a strong smell of alcohol.
Ms Davy ‘kept an eye on her as she seemed dodgy and not a regular at the store’.
The victim went on to say Williams became abusive after being told not to put items straight into a ‘tatty’ bag that she had brought in.
The court heard the defendant grabbed a Valentino handbag to the value of £130 before exiting the shop.
Ms Davy followed her and took the bag when Williams held on to her arm and ‘dug her nails in’.
A member of the public in attendance picked up the bag and, as the defendant tried to grab it, Ms Davy says she stopped her and was punched on the left temple by Williams.
Prosecutor Turan Sunat told the hearing PC James Wood attended to watch CCTV footage of the incident and he ‘instantly recognised’ Williams due to her ‘very distinctive’ face he described as ‘weathered’ with ‘wrinkles and long bags under he eyes’.
District judge Daniel Church issued an arrest warrant for Williams.
