Act II are ready for a royal double

Royalty is coming to the South Holland Centre through two Act II Theatre Company shows this Saturday (July 12).

The young performers are putting on a teen version of the hit musical Six.

And they’re also performing Alpha, which is described as a ‘companion piece’ that ‘explores the toxic masculinity of Henry VIII himself’.

A spokesman for Act II said of the 45-minute show: “With lots of fast-paced talk and cutting remarks between Henry and his ‘friends’, all this locker-room chat might just show that despite his prowess, it is Henry who is defined by his wives.

“Told through a series of podcasts, Alpha holds an uncomfortable mirror up to modern day machismo and misogyny.”

Global stage sensation Six by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss meanwhile features ‘all the sass of the queens’.

“Aragon, Boleyn, Seymour, Cleves, Howard and Parr are taking back the microphone in a poptastic concert to reclaim their crowns and retell their stories,” the spokesman continued.

Alpha shows take place at 11am and 5pm with tickets costing £5.

Six Teen Edition shows are at 2pm and 7.30pm with tickets £14, concessions £12 or £10 for groups of over ten.
