Those behind a South Holland landmark which is more than 200 years old are appealing for help to keep it open to the public.
Moulton Mill, Britain’s tallest windmill is maintained and kept open 10am to 3pm on Saturday, Sundays and bank holidays by volunteers.
But they need more to ensure its survival.
“It becomes more important with each passing year due to the reduction in the number of volunteers who strive to keep this iconic building open and active,” a spokesman said. “Sadly, over the years, the number of volunteers has fallen substantially.
“The impact of Covid, the ageing process, illness and infirmity, have all taken their toll. In order for the mill to continue operating we need to staff the tea room, maintain the shop, and provide guided tours.
“It is a commitment that many people are unable or unwilling to make.”
Volunteers are being asked to donate three hours of heir time at the weekends to help in the tea room or with the guided tours.
“Full training is provided for those prepared to join a team of other local volunteers, enthusiastic about preserving the only tea room in the village and more importantly, this very unique heritage site,” the spokesman continued.
