Volunteers needed to help the bereaved

Volunteers are being sought to help run new sessions being launched in South Holland to help people with their grief.

The charity Sue Ryder is in the process of opening Grief Kind Spaces across Lincolnshire.
The third of them is set to open at the Spalding branch of Tonic Health and another is coming to Holbeach soon.
But it needs volunteers to listen and support people who are grieving and need more support.
Grief Kind Spaces are described by Sue Ryder as providing “a safe and supportive space for people who have experienced a bereavement to come together. The spaces aim to go some way to reducing the isolation and loneliness experienced by people after somebody close to them has died.”
Marie Huggins, the area coordinator for Lincolnshire, said: “The new Grief Kind Space in Spalding will be the third in Lincolnshire and comes after the success of the other sessions already established in Stamford and Bourne.
“Volunteers are vital to ensuring we can continue to be there when it matters, and we would encourage anyone who has a willingness to support their community through grief to get in touch.
“All volunteers joining us will be offered training which will equip them in their role. You don’t need to have experience or have done anything like this before – you just need to be over 18 years old and have a few hours to share a week.”
The Sue Ryder Grief Kind Space in Spalding will be held at Tonic Health, 6 Broadgate House, Westlode Street, Spalding, PE11 2AF every Tuesday from 10am until 12 noon each week.
A new space in Holbeach is set to open in the next couple of months.
