Barzycki qualifies

Six members of Pinchbeck Croquet Club played 15 games in their heat of the All England Golf Croquet handicap tournament.

Golf croquet is a version of the game where, when a player scores a hoop all players move on to the next hoop and the first player to score seven is declared the winner.
The round robin competition saw Tim Barzycki emerge victorious after some hard-fought games spread across two days.
Martin Thompson and Sam Hales got the event under way with Hales coming out on top 7-5.
Charles Baker then saw off John Wright 7-6 in a tight encounter.
Sally-Anne Farrow then played Barzycki with the eventual overall winner earning a 7-2 success.
Thompson beat Wright 7-5 in a clash of the first round losers, while Baker made it two wins out of two by seeing off Farrow 7-5.
Barzycki inflicted a 7-4 defeat on Hales and Farrow picked up her first win when she beat Wright 7-3.
At that stage only Wright had failed to win at least one game with Barzycki and Baker still unbeaten.
Baker then beat Hales 7-5 in a slightly controversial finish, with Barzycki also keeping up his perfect record with a 7-5 defeat of Thompson.
After some inclement weather, the event was abandoned and resumed a few days later with the contest remaining hotly fought out.
Baker took a huge step towards winning the tournament when he beat Barzycki 7-5 only to lose his next match 7-6 to Thompson.
Barzycki in back to winning 7-5 against Wright, with Farrow triumphing 7-6 against Hales.
That left everyone with at least one win, but four wins apiece meant the title was between Baker and Barzycki with the latter going through on hoop difference.
The regional heat will be played at Ashby de la Zouch in July with the final in September.
