The popular Spalding Water Taxi won’t be running this year after problems with the river levels.
The not-for-profit service links Springfields Outlet Shopping with the town centre and usually runs throughout the summer.
The taxi is owned by Broadgate Homes and run by operator Anthony Grunwell.
Simon Clarke, of Broadgate Homes, said it was a ‘huge disappointment’ that the taxi would not be running.
“Areas along the route do not have enough depth to allow safe passage and with no set date for completion of the engineering works to the riverbank we have had to make this difficult decision,” said Mr Clarke.
The breaches of the bank of the River Welland came during the winter flooding and the level of the river was dropped by the Environment Agency for repair works.
The low level of the river also had an impact on the town’s sailing club.
“It was a huge disappointment that the water taxi will not be able to operate its award-winning service for the local community and visitors this season.
“We are very sorry for any inconvenience and look forward to welcoming all our loyal customers and many new ones on board next year,” said Mr Clarke.
The taxi has been operating since 2007 which was initially set-up to link the two areas of the town.
But it has become an attraction in its own right and it received a coveted Trip Advisor Customers’ Choice accolade.
It also offers private charters and self-drive boats which can be used for celebration events.
