Pinchbeck girls have roaring time as Future Lionesses

Five players from Pinchbeck United’s u15 girls team have been enjoying life as Future Lionesses at an event at Sheffield Hallam University.

The group were invited to the talent identification session after showing potential to progress further along the Women’s England Talent Pathway.
Antonina Such, Freya Willerton, Lily Forsyth, Ruby Forsyth and Ruby Quinn joined other junior stars from across the North and Midlands at the event and goalkeeper Willerton said: “The other four joined the other outfield players while I joined five other goalkeepers, and we all had new drills to follow.
“It was a fantastic experience to play alongside other girls who were of a very high standard.”
They all had a quick chance to put their new moves into action because after the two-hour session they dashed back to South Lincolnshire for a match against Cambridgeshire A League leaders Cambridge City.
“It was an exhilarating match as our opposition had not lost a match this season, so were pleased to get a draw,” said Willerton after an entertaining 5-5 draw that saw them score five or more goals for the seventh match in a row, and extend their unbeaten record to 10 games.
Pinchbeck hit back from 4-1 down at half-time with a hat-trick from Constance Onyinah and a goal apiece for Evie Morris and Ella Lynn.
As well as playing for Pinchbeck United, the quintet also train on Mondays at Peterborough United Girls Development Centre.
Four of them also represent Spalding High School, while Lily Forsyth plays for University Academy Holbeach.

Willerton added: “We are grateful to our coaches, parents and schools for their training, encouragement and providing us with the opportunities to play so many matches. It helps us to improve our skills, keep fit, develop our resilience, cope under pressure and work even better as a team.”
