Sad days for people of Pinchbeck

The last few days have been sad ones for the people of Pinchbeck.
On Friday, our wonderful parish council clerk Barbara Camps was given an amazing send off by the many family and friends who gathered in the village church to mourn together and remember Barbara.
Two amazing eulogies paid tribute to her warmth and kindness to so many and most importantly her love and pride in her two daughters.
She will always be remembered for her sense of fun, her local knowledge, her organisational skills and her hard work for the people of East and West Pinchbeck.
Over the COVID crisis she worked tirelessly to help in the distribution of the food around the villages that had been so generously donated by local firms.
On Saturday, at the same church where we had said goodbye to Barbara only the day before, some members of the church congregation met with the family of the late Reverend David Hill and his wife Jane. David died earlier this year and Jane in 2020.
We gathered in the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful, ancient church grounds to bury both of their ashes in the sight of the vicarage where they spent so many happy years with their four children.
They were laid to rest close by their beloved daughter Candida, whose tragic death so young was a great sadness for them.
David was a sincere, very spiritual vicar and Jane was lively and lovely and taught in local schools for many years.
She sang with the South Holland Singers and all the family were very talented musically.
On Sunday morning when the wonderful church bells rang out for the harvest service, as they have done for hundreds of years, I was reminded how much in life changes, but some things stay the same.
