LETTERS – 50m pool would be asset

Referring to the council debate in your paper recently, I totally agree with James Le Sage that a 50 metre pool will fit into the complex and would be a great asset to the town and area.
I have been a resident in South Holland for 70 years and would like to remind Gary Taylor and his counterparts at SHDC that when the present pool was built it was slightly short of the required length to hold national events meaning our area lost our status and revenue wise to other sporting venues due to penny pinching and lack of foresight.
They need to be reminded of the area SHDC covers and the outlying towns and villages which have no local swimming facilities or high level sporting events to attend.
Think how good it would be to put Spalding on the map which has an international swimming venue for training and events.
The negativity lies with the portfolio holder. I hope he reads this and takes note.
