Four-midable Pinchbeck United make their Mark in the Cup

Mark Lovelace was among the scorers as Pinchbeck United cruised into the quarter-finals of the PFA Senior Cup with a convincing 4-1 win over Leverington Sports on Saturday.

A former player and manager at the club, Lovelace re-signed with Pinchbeck at the back end of 2014.

And he grabbed his first goal of his latest United stint in the Knight Street success, with Ollie Maltby (2) and Ryan Leggett the other scorers. They’ll play Netherton United in the last eight.

Moulton Harrox are out of the same competition after they slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Peterborough Premier Division leaders Coates Athletic. Ryan Wheeler grabbed Harrox’s goal at Broad Lane.

In the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves were handed a 4-2 defeat at Peterborough Sports Reserves – despite a double from Jack Smith.

There was something of a shock in the PFA Challenge Cup, with Division Two side Crowland Town Reserves knocking out Division One side Sutton Bridge United 5-1. Ben Partridge got Bridge’s consolation.

Back in Division Two, Pinchbeck United Reserves picked up a 2-1 triumph at Guyhirn thanks to goals from Aidan Moor and Tyler Wright.

In Division Three, goals from Daniel Chapman (11), Michael Ocock (32) and Joshua Slator (75) earned Tydd St Mary a 3-0 victory at Ryhall United Reserves to cement their place in the top six.
It was a good day for South Holland sides in Division Four, with Long Sutton Reserves leading the way.

They battered Huntingdon Rovers 7-3 thanks to strikes from James Ward (2), Sean Gedney, Will Kirkham, Tim Lowe, Jamie Taylor and Mark Garner.

Also big winners were Holbeach Bank, who battered Warboys Reserves 5-2. Ben Louth, Ashley Sheedy, Warren Skeels, Phillip Horspool and Lee Hunt got the goals.

Sutton Bridge Reserves completed the full set of wins with a 2-1 victory against Thorpe Wood. Raymond Points and Steve Rogers struck for them.

Down in Division Five, leaders Whaplode Drove earned a battling 3-2 win at Holbeach United A to go five points clear.

James Kingston and Jake Scampion were on target for a young Holbeach side at Park Road.
