Disappointing day for Spalding

Spalding Town suffered a disappointing defeat at home to Bracebridge Heath on Saturday in the Lincolnshire Premier Division.
The home side were dragged towards the wrong end of the table after being bowled out for 78 chasing the side who were previously second from bottom’s 180 all out.
Spalding skipper Jon Manton won the toss and put Bracebridge in amid bowler friendly conditions.
And Town enjoyed a great start to leave the visitors 10 for 3 thanks to Mitch Freeman (1 for 41) and Nilantha Atapattu who bowled superbly taking 4 for 21 from his 10 overs.
Brandon Andrews (2 for 45) and Barnaby Dring (3 for 14) then struck in quick succession to leave Bracebridge 37 for 5.
They hit back though with a match-winning partnership of 96 between Dan Stanley and Alex Moor.
The latter anchored hitting 44 from 73 balls before being caught off Andews.
Stanley hit nine fours and a six in his nearly a run-a-ball 62, finally falling to Dring when the visitors were on 157.
Alexander Clegg (8) and Andy Carter (8) added a further 18 before Bracebridge lost their final three wickets for five runs and were 180 all out in the 48th over.
It proved to be too much for Spalding who regularly lost wickets.
Opener Ollie Dring scored nearly half their runs with a more patient than usual 37, but when he was seventh man out with Spalding on 54 the game was virtually up.
Number eight Jay White was the second highest run scorer with just 10 as they slumped to 76 all out and a 104-run defeat.
Bracebridge’s third win of the campaign bunches up a group from seventh placed Spalding to 10th placed Woodhall Spa, all of whom are only separated by seven points.
Spalding will be hoping to extend the gap when they host bottom of the table and slightly adrift Nettleham at Seas End Hall on Saturday.
