Mixed weekend for Moulton

It was a mixed weekend for Moulton Harrox but there was a fine win for the club’s 2nd XI.
Both were up against their corresponding sides from Skegness.
The 1st XI made the trip to the coast in the South Lincs and Border League Championship.
Captain Chris Beale lost the toss, with Skegness opting to field first in overcast conditions.
Regular opener Jamie Juckes and 2nd XI call up Jack Barnett began the innings.
Skegness started with Andrew Sylvester who took the wicket off Juckes in the first over, attempting to cleaver a straight ball that went crashing into the stumps.
Barnett (1) feathered a bottom edge to the keeper and when Beale (1) dropped the anchor and was out lbw Moulton were 7 for 3.
Jamie Kitchen fell to the same fate after scoring 23.
Slogger Matt Rose took some counter attacking cricket to Skegness, but he was out on 18, while Jake Morton offered some resistance down the order with a butchered 21 and several further wild hacks down the order raised the total to 125 all out.
Travis Harrison and Rose opened the bowling, with Rose taking two quick wickets to dismiss 2 and 3.
Injury once again struck for Harrison who was only able to bowl three overs.
Kitchen joined Rose in the attack, taking the wicket of Skegness’ captain.
Parth Palawat edged behind but was dropped by the usually reliable Mark Ramsden.
Rose bowled through his nine overs for 24, but was unable to make any further breakthroughs.
Kitchen struck again trapping Norman Brackley for 2.
Harry Lovell began working over Palawat as Lovell trapped Carl Abbis for 13.
Palawat scored 62 not out as Skegness knocked the total off in 33 overs.
lMoulton 2nd XI hosted Skegness 2nd XI team, with stand-in captain Joe Broomfield winning the toss.
Lewis Martin opened with Broomfield which turned out to be a genius decision with Martin scoring freely.
Broomfield was dismissed early for 8, which brought the ever impressive Ruari Drumm to the crease.
Drumm and Martin began building a solid partnership, before Drumm was trapped in front for 22.
Next in was Karlos Hibbert who struck an aggressive four to get off the mark but could only manage nine runs before being dismissed.
Lewis Peak came in at five taking full advantage of his Sunday form and hitting the ball to all parts of the ground.
Martin passed his 50, ladling the ball through backward point before being caught attempting a wild hack.
Peak was finally dismissed, caught at deep mid wicket.
Junaid Alam smashed a quick fire 26 with support from Danni Jackson who made 19.
Moulton ended on an impressive 218 for 8.
Harrox started well, immediately applying pressure with a clinical bowling display.
Simon Juckes took 3 for 14 from his 9, backed up by Cam Fox who took 3 for 12 from 8.
Youngster Finn Roy bowled tightly but a run out from Broomfield and a wicket from his right arm medium ended the day for Skegness.
It was a resounding victory against an ever improving Skegness 2nd XI team.
